We bought sarai her first bathing suit today, the smallest size was an 18 mth old! The crazy thing is she fit it for the most part! But she is a pretty big size baby this week she measured 28 inches which is in the 98% for all six month olds. She has consistently been in the top margin for height. So we got the bathing suit from wal-mart and the floatie, and her godparents gave us her pool. So we invited had her best friend charlie over and his mommy ashley. It was the first time they have worn there bathing suits and gotten in the pool. The pool was really cold and there were some weird mosquitos that kept swimming around, but sarai absolutely loved being in there. She did not cry once, i was really amazed. It was the cutest thing seeing her in the pool she looked like a big girl. Keith wants to have her accustomed to the water so she can learn to swim early (unlike mommy) so this is a pretty good start.
Sarai's first ponytail...
So dealing with sarai's hair is been an adventure to say the least. When she was first born she did not have any hair from the ear forward! Now it has been growing lots a little in the front and ALOT in the back. So we are able to wet it and comb it forward which really turns out nice. Lately she has started to get her natural curl and it makes it difficult to keep her hair down. I am sooooooooo sick of headbands so for the last two months i have been talking about trying to put a ponytail in her hair. Sarai's hair grows very long at the crown of her head a perfect spot for a ponytail. BUT keith thought it was a horrible idea and she would look silly so i have been putting it off. Finally today i tried it again and surprise surprise he loved it. She looks soooooooooo adorable i went overload and took a ton of pics. So enjoy!

Strawberry picking..
On friday Sarai and i were invited to go strawberry picking with a few other moms and there kids. The farm was located about 45 minutes away from where we live. I have always wanted to go and it had been something my mom had talked about taking my nieces to. When we first got to the farm the owner told us that they had pretty bad mosquitos and they hated the smell of vanilla for some reason. So she gave us these napkins soaked in vanilla. I think i was the over protective mom. Everyone else dabbed a little on their kids, i went crazy with all over any exposed parts. I was afraid because the owner mentioned that sometimes this particular bug would burrow in the hair and cause big lumps that took 1-2 days to go away. I was terrified that sarai could possibly go through that. So she ended up smelling like i dumped a full bottle of vanilla body spray on her. After that i took MORE time to slather in sunblock. (poor sarai she has no idea what is in store for her. I believe it is better safe than sorry) Anyway i had to strap her in the baby carrier and i took her out to the fields to pick strawberries. At first she seemed to hate it, there was a light breeze which was nice because it helped keep the bugs away and it kept it from being TOO hot. She isnt completely used to being in the sun and wind (we have kept her covered for too long) so she has been going through an adjustment period. After about 15 minutes she seem to enjoy herself, i had to stop for a few minutes find a tree and give her bottle. Otherwise she had lots of fun being outside. I on the other hand had a HARD time squating and getting back up for an hour with a 17 pd baby strapped to my chest. I eventually had to give up and go back to the shop. I am really feeling it now my thighs feel like someone took a bat to them. I guess that shows that i need to start working out! Anyway hope you enjoy the pics!

Future Cheerleader?
Sarai has started to become very active, her leg and arms are constantly going all of the time. Thankfully, she has also started to enjoy playtime alone. Usually i let her lie on her back and she plays with toys or discovers new parts of her body, and then it seems that she tries to name them! She is quite the chatterbox, which just started this week. While she was laying on keith's lap she started to move her arms around in a cheerleader fashion. It was the most adorable thing, all keith had to do was lift her arms out and she would begin to spell out a word (well not really of course!) But we think that she may be a future cheerleader, or have the potential to be one. Keith is afraid to let her participate in anything that could possibly cause her bodily injury, so gymnastics and cheerleadering may not be an option.
Quick snooze...
The only time i can get anything done (i.e a shower or laundry) is if i stick sarai in the bouncer for about 15 minutes. She absolutely loves being in it and she constantly bounces to keep the music going. I can constantly hear her rolling the rattle on the bouncer and when it stops i know that she has fallen asleep. So when i heard the music and rattle stop i came otu to find sarai had fallen asleep it was the cutest pic.
Birthday present...
I just recently celebrated my 25th birthday on the 12th. Keith got me this amazing and very expensive dooney and bourke bag. I absolutely love it but i think it cost more than half my wardrobe! Its great because it doubles as a baby/purse, so far it has worked out perfectly. However, i have to keep in mind that it is NOT a baby bag and i can not just sit it on the floor like i did the baby bag, keith will have a fit!

Happy Mother's Day...
Unfortunately we are apart from the parents this mother's day but they you guys are on our mind. Sarai would have loved to spend time with her Nana Carol and her Mema. So she wore a something in honor of the two of you. So we just wanted to say Happy Mother's day, or in Sarai's case Happy Grandmothers day! We miss you guys and hope to see you soon.

sarai's new trick...
Last week sarai woke up one morning with a brand new trick she discovered. It seems she figured ou she can blow and spit. It was the cutest thing at first, but now she does it when eating solids and drinking milk. So keith and i are constantly wiping food from our faces. She even does it in her sleep which wakes her up.
playtime in mirror...
Sarai loves seeing herself in the mirror, she smiles and coos everytime i put her there.
Sarai's hand coordination..
Sarai's seems to have gained control of her hands overnight. Her development seems to be coming along rapidly. She can now grab items, our face, or hands on one try,and pretty quickly! She has also started trying to sit up, she is learning how to balance herself and keep from falling over. As far as strength, she is like baby hercules! Her legs are sooooooooooooooo strong, she tries to jump right out of our arms. She has also started rolling over, although she hates belly time. So things are right along track, she will be sitting up and crawling in no time.
Sarai's first taste of green beans..
We started Sarai on cereal when she was about 3-3 and a half months. However, we recently started her on jar food after her four month appt. I heard that it is best to start babies on vegetables versus fruits, because the baby would develop a preference for the sweet fruits and reject the vegetables. So we started Sarai on sweet peas and green beans first. She absolutely loves her vegetables, she doesnt hesitate when i give them to her. However, suprisingly she seems to hate fruits. I tried peaches and pears, and she frowns with EVERY spoonful and she has begun spitting it back at me. My mom said i should have started out with bananas because it is more of a bland taste and i think she is right. On the plus side, i am very happy that she loves vegetables and i hope the trend continues in the future.
First taste of squash...
Sarai did not like the taste of squash. I would have continued giving it to her, but she spit up all afternoon after feeding it to her. So squash is off the menu, her stomach had some sort of reaction to it.
Video of Sarai after she spent an afternoon with Daddy..
I finally snuck in an afternoon nap and when i woke up i found Sarai's clothes had been turned inside out by Keith. He usually gets her ready for bed so he is used to putting her in sleepers and not regular outfits! But to give him some slack i think he wasnt feeling very well that day he had a sore throat and a head cold.
First time in high chair
We finally got around to putting together the high chair. It was actually a personal project of mine, i did it all by myself. Keith wasnt sure if i would be able to get it together alone but i okay. Sarai looks sooooooooooo small in the chair but she does not mind being in it at all. So far she has not cried in the chair. I think she feels like part of the family now that she is sitting high on our level.
